A History of Windows Operating Systems and Bill Gates.

Go Back

Bill Gates, the founder and the first chairman of Microsoft, came from a good family of entrepreneurs and high spirited people. He was born is Seattle Washington on October 28th 1955. He had an early interest in software and started programming computers at the age of thirteen. Bill gates got to IBM to let Microsoft return licensing to MS-DOS. Gates made a lot of money releasing the MS-DOS. Finally November 10, 1983 Microsoft announced Microsoft Windows, a next generation operating system.

Shortly after the MS-DOS licensing to Bill Gates, Microsoft started making different windows. MS-DOS was for Microsoft and IBM compatible computers (MS-DOS) Microsoft Disc Operating Systems. DOS versions were very simple to assemble and with the operating system called CPM, shortly after the MS-DOS came Windows.

Windows 7 was first launched to the public on October 22, 2009, as the latest Microsoft Operating System. Windows 7 is the successor to Windows Vista, and was released along with Windows server 2008 R2, which is a counterpart to Windows 7. Windows brought new features and enhancements that include Multi Touch Support, Internet Explorer 8, the bettered performance and startup times, Aero Snap, Aero Shake, and support for hard disks that are of a virtual aspect. Last it brought us an improved Windows Media Center and better security for the system. Windows 7 is a great part of history and will continue to be sold in stores worldwide.

Linux Torvalds studied with the University of Helsinki; he used the UNIX version of the system which was named "Minx". Linus and other users had thought of other ways to use the software. The creator of MINIX was Andrew Tanebaum a very smart college student that loved software. After dividing what was right he created his own software which was Linux. Linux is used an alternative to other operating systems, like Windows, Mac OS, MS-DOS, Solaris and others. Linux is not like a processor and is not a program similar to Office Suite. Linux is an interface between computer and Server hardware. Linux is the UNIX family and a great alternative when you can't get windows to load as an operating system on a weak or corrupted hard drive.

It was January 24, 1984 when Apple Computer Inc. introduced to the world the Macintosh personal computer. This was later renamed the Mac OS operating system, and was later renowned as a system software. The Mac OS operating system was credited for its popularity and its graphical user interface. The Mac OS is an operating system that was used for installments on every Macintosh or Mac computer ever made or sold. The first Macintosh system was similar or the same as the Lisa OS system, that previously was offered by Apple to the Lisa computer that was made in 1983. Xerox bought shares of Apple at a rate that was reasonable to buy by its consumer who also use this software installment. Macintosh started in 1979 by Jef Raskin, and was named easy to use software and continues to be used as great operating system software. Apple is great software, and continues to be used by computer users across the world.

There are comparisons of windows 7 that others don't have. These features separate each operating system functions and performance and set their ratings to what they are today. I have explained the history of Linux, Windows 7, and Mac OS, these three programs have features that others don't have and these features are as follows. I have made a bulleted list of each system and there features.

There are some features of Windows 7 that aren't offered by Mac OS and Linux.

  1. Unlike other operating systems Windows 7 offers a Home Group that makes it easier to share files and printed on your home network.

These are some features of Linux that other operating systems don't offer.

  1. Multi-User - Linux is a multiuser system means multiple users can access system resources like memory and ram application programs at the same time.
  2. Hierarchical File System - Linux provides a standard file structure in which system files and user files are arranged.
  3. Shell -Linux provides a special Entrepreneurs program which can be used to execute commands of the operating system. It can be used to do various types of operations, call application programs etc.

These are some features of Mac OS that others do not offer.

  1. Developer Tools-Mac comes with developer tools that are integrated into the system. These features are already on the system unlike other systems where you need to download or buy your own developer tools.
  2. Bonjour-This feature makes it easier to connect to printers, servers, other computers and devices over a network. Bonjour devices can automatically connect without having to be manually connected with settings and controls. It can be used to store files, connect to windows PC, and to use ITunes.
  3. Smart Folders- or Smart Mailboxes are a way of allowing users ease to order an unruly set of files. For many users Smart Folders make it easier to toss all your work into one big folder rather than using a complex folder system. With the Smart Folder feature, folders do the organizing for you. This feature will let you see all of your folders for the past 10 days of saving and access all of the folders and files that you have stored. Last, the taskbar is much better and it includes Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player, and allows you to pin the application to the taskbar. So if you have something on your desktop you can pin it to your taskbar for easier access.

The Mac OS (GUI) offers there "gumdrop" buttons for closing and hiding the windows. It provides a moreover option so that the symbol are visible when scrolling over the area.
