2 Advantages of Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC)
Permanent Virtual Circuit can be configured and used as an option with two buildings to offer a dedicated circuit Link (DCL)
With PVC’s, there is no need to use call setup repeatedly, nor clearing calls.
2 Disadvantages of Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC)
If the equipment fails, then the PVC fails also, and the network has to be re-routed to start again.
It is only good for the hosts that need to communicate with each other constantly like an ATM Hosted network.
2 Advantages of Permanent Virtual Circuit (SVC)
Based upon the calls that are received, is how SVC’s are set up and then disconnected when they are done.
When data transfers are high, and not used with the same equipment endpoint’s SVS’s are used
2 Disadvantages of Permanent Virtual Circuit (SVC)
The connection is always setup and demanded by the users. Also, the connection isn’t permanent.
When the switch doesn’t work or fails the SVC fails also and has to be re-setup.
