2 Advantages of Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC)

  • Permanent Virtual Circuit can be configured and used as an option with two buildings to offer a dedicated circuit Link (DCL)
  • With PVC’s, there is no need to use call setup repeatedly, nor clearing calls.
  • 2 Disadvantages of Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC)

  • If the equipment fails, then the PVC fails also, and the network has to be re-routed to start again.
  • It is only good for the hosts that need to communicate with each other constantly like an ATM Hosted network.
  • 2 Advantages of Permanent Virtual Circuit (SVC)

  • Based upon the calls that are received, is how SVC’s are set up and then disconnected when they are done.
  • When data transfers are high, and not used with the same equipment endpoint’s SVS’s are used
  • 2 Disadvantages of Permanent Virtual Circuit (SVC)

  • The connection is always setup and demanded by the users. Also, the connection isn’t permanent.
  • When the switch doesn’t work or fails the SVC fails also and has to be re-setup.
